I don't use it. Better to put the skill points in a more useful place. It makes Maya look cool with the wings, and when the Phoenix is active it will explode barrels nearby. You do need to be aware of your surroundings so you aren't accidentally sent into FFYL by the wings blowing up barrels near you.
If you want to have this, a single point is adequate. The damage done by this skill really doesn't warrant putting more points into this. I don't use it personally.
